Little Easter-Basket / Kleines Osterkörbchen

Little Easter-Basket (+ Tutorial Duffus Granny Square)
Kleines Osterkörbchen (+ Anleitung Granny Square Duffus)

Dear friends,

I still haven't put any Easter decorations up. I miss Knuddel badly.

Last February I made this small crochet tablecloth and I had planned to make a matching basket. So, that's just what I did.

Quite a long time ago I promised a written pattern of the granny square I used for the tablecloth as well as for the basket. Till now I haven't managed but this drawing...

Now the written instructions:

Duffus Granny Square

Abreviations:

ch = chain stitch
htr = half treble
loop = loop made of ch
mc = magic circle
tr = treble
tr3tog = 3 tr together

Instructions:

Start with mc
Round 1: 6x (tr3tog + ch 2)
Round 2: 6x [(tr3tog + ch 2 + tr3 tog + ch 2) in loop]
Round 3: 4x {[(3 tr + ch 2 + 3 tr) in loop] + 2x (2 htr in loop)}
Round 4: 4x [(tr in tr) + corner (= 2 tr + ch 2 + 2 tr)]

I'll keep in touch!

Liebe Freunde,

mir ist nicht nach Ostern zumute. Knuddel fehlt mir.

Granny Square Duffus

Abkürzungen:

FR = Fadenring
HStb = Halbe Stäbchen
Lm = Luftmasche
LmB = Luftmaschenbogen
Stb = Stäbchen
zab3Stb = 3 zusammen abgemaschte Stb

Anleitung:

Anfangen mit FR
Runde 1: 6x (3 zabStb + 2 Lm)
Runde 2: 6x [(3 zabStb + 2 Lm + 3zabStb + 2 Lm) in LmB]
Runde 3: 4x {[(3 Stb + 2 Lm + 2 Stb) in LmB] + 2x (2 HSbt in LmB)}
Runde 4: 4x [(Stb in Stb) + Ecke (= 2 Stb + 2 Lm + 2 Stb)]

Ich halte euch auf dem Laufenden!

  3. Ofcourse you miss Knuddel... It's not easy to lose your cat that has been such a long time with you.
    Hopefully writing down this beautiful pattern has helped to distract you.

    1. Thank you, dear Sigrid,
      the tomcats are sweet though, always there to get a cuddle, but it's not quite the same.
      Have a nice week!

  4. I know how your heart aches for Knuddel. We moved to our present house 9 1/2 years ago with 5 cats and a dog. In the 1st year we lost Lacy ( our oldest cat) and Sadie, our dog. Since then we have adopted Indy, our latest dog, but have lost Abby and Nosey, then the oldest and youngest of our cats. Both of them died while I was holding them, so I know they passed with love surrounding them.

    My heart still aches for Joy, the dog I grew up with who has been gone for 45 years. As the saying goes, each one that passes takes a part of your heart with them and leaves their paw prints across your heart.

    1. Hello Paula,
      thank you for these kind words. It's true they do leave their paw prints across our hearts, but that's fine, as they are an important part of our family and of our lifes. Life would be terribly poor without our beloved pets!
      Have a nice week,

  7. Saw this on HOHD and had to give a click. It's so cute! Maybe I just missed it but how big is it? I was wondering if 4 put together would make a nice 12" square.

    1. Hello Melissa,
      I'm no good in inches, but 4 GS put together make 15cm (using Cotton Fun and a 3.5 hook), with a row of trebbles (UK-Terms) around to smoothen things up 17cm. Completed as shown on pic above it measures 28x28cm.
      Happy crocheting,
      Marjan
